Version 3 · Effective 1 October 2026
> What changed: Version 3 adds the minimum age of 18, the phone permissions and how they are used, our service providers, checks for offensive language, blocking and reporting, deleting your videos, account deactivation and deletion, how long we keep information, and how to raise a grievance.
This Privacy Policy explains how TwynUp™ ("TwynUp", "we" or "us") collects, uses, shares, stores and protects your personal information when you use the TwynUp mobile app for iPhone and Android (including TwynCam, the app's match-recording feature), twynup.com and our related services (together, the "Platform"). The Platform is operated by Manya Fintech Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Lakehomes, Powai, Mumbai – 400076, Maharashtra, India.
By creating an account or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. Your use of the Platform is also governed by the TwynUp Terms & Conditions.
At a glance
- TwynUp is for adults: you must be 18 or older to create an account.
- We collect your mobile number, name and profile, the matches, videos, photos and comments you create or appear in, and information about your device, how you use the app and any crashes.
- The "Twyn up" wake word is recognised on your phone. Listening for it sends no audio to TwynUp.
- We show no ads, do not collect your phone's advertising ID, do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and do not sell your personal information.
- You can deactivate your account (and restore it within 90 days) or delete it permanently in the app, at any time.
- Questions or requests: hello@twynup.com.
1. Who can use TwynUp
The Platform is only for people aged 18 or older. You confirm your age when you create an account, and the app will not create an account for someone who says they are under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it. If you believe this has happened, please contact us.
2. Information you give us
Account and profile:
- your mobile number, which we use to send sign-in codes and to identify your account;
- your full name and the username created for you when you register;
- your profile photo, bio, city, the sports you play and your preferences, if you add them;
- your agreement to the Terms and your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
Content:
- match videos, including their sound, recorded by phones taking part in a match, and the highlights, scores and statistics made from them;
- content from events you take part in that is created by authorised organisers or partners, or by the Platform's automated features;
- photos you choose to add (profile, circle and team photos);
- captions, comments, likes, favourites and collections, and tags of players in videos;
- match details such as the venue name, date, teams, players and scores, the tournaments you take part in, and your sporting history, achievements and statistics;
- circles you create or join: their name, description, photo, members and invitations.
Safety:
- reports you make: what you reported, the reason and any details you add;
- people you block: who, when, where in the app you blocked them and any reason you chose; unblocking is kept as history;
- moderation and enforcement records: reported content and the decisions taken on it, removed tags, warnings and suspensions, and messages about safety investigations;
- messages you send to our support team.
3. Information collected automatically
Device and sign-in security. When you sign in, the app sends an ID created for this installation of the app, your phone's model identifier (for example "iPhone17,3", not the name you gave your phone), its operating system and the app version. The installation ID is also sent with the app's requests. We use these to tie a sign-in to the phone it happened on, keep your account secure, stop abuse and limit repeated requests. Our servers also receive your IP address.
Usage. Google Firebase Analytics records how the app is used, such as the screens you open and the features you use, together with your TwynUp account ID, an ID for this installation of the app and your phone's language setting. It also records the approximate area the app is used in, such as the city, worked out from your network address rather than from GPS. On Android, it also records the Google Play link or campaign, if any, that led to the app being installed.
Crashes and errors. Firebase Crashlytics records crashes and errors, with a description of the phone and the app at the time: the phone model and system version, free memory and storage, battery-saver and background settings, the network type, the screen in use and the steps that led up to the problem. These reports carry your account ID and the installation ID so a problem can be traced. Anything that could identify a person directly, such as a phone number, is removed before a report is sent.
Performance. Firebase Performance Monitoring measures how fast screens load and requests complete. This information is not linked to you.
What we do not collect: your precise (GPS) location, your contacts, your phone's advertising ID, or your activity in other companies' apps and websites.
4. Permissions on your phone
- Microphone: during a live match, phones on court listen for the spoken phrase "Twyn up", which saves a highlight without anyone touching a phone. The phrase is recognised on the phone itself, and listening for it sends no audio to TwynUp. A Listening indicator shows in the app while the microphone is on, and your phone shows its own microphone indicator. The video clips that camera phones record include the sound of the match.
- Camera: phones that join a match as cameras record video of it, and a Recording indicator shows while they do. The camera is also used to scan the code that joins a phone to a match, and to take a profile, circle or team photo when you choose to.
- Photos: you choose a photo with your phone's photo picker, and TwynUp receives only the photo you pick. When you download a match video, TwynUp adds it to your photo library; it does not read the rest of your library.
- Local network (iPhone): lets the phones on a court stay in sync and stream replays to each other.
- Notifications: show the progress of uploads and downloads, and that a scoring session is live while the app is minimised. On iPhone, TwynUp does not ask with a pop-up: upload notices arrive quietly in Notification Centre, and you choose whether to keep them.
- Background activity: a live match stays connected, and uploads and downloads keep going, while the app is minimised or the screen is off. A few times a day the app refreshes your feed and profile in the background so it opens with current content; on Android, larger media is fetched only on Wi-Fi while charging. Background refresh does not use your location.
You can turn any of these permissions off at any time in your phone's settings. Recording and the wake word need the camera and microphone.
5. How we use your information
- to create and run your account, and to sign you in with one-time codes sent by SMS;
- to record, upload, organise and show match videos, highlights, scores and statistics, and to put them on the accounts of the players in the match;
- to link content you appear in to your profile, using the players listed in the match, participation records or tags;
- to provide the social features: your profile, the feed, comments, likes, favourites, tags, circles, tournaments and search;
- to produce sporting insights and recommendations, including with automated and AI-based analysis; this is not used to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you;
- to keep the Platform safe: to check text for offensive language, apply blocks, review reports, moderate content and enforce our Terms. When a profile, video or comment is reported, we process the report, the reported content, the related account information and the moderation decision;
- to keep accounts secure and prevent fraud, impersonation, harassment, stalking and other misuse;
- to provide support and send important service messages;
- to find and fix problems, understand how the app is used and make it better, develop new features and services, and switch features on or off without an app update;
- to comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
We do not show ads, and we do not use your information for advertising or sell it to anyone.
6. Checks for offensive language
Before names, comments, captions, profile text and circle names or descriptions are posted, the app checks them on your phone for offensive language. Text that fails the check is not posted. The check itself sends nothing to TwynUp; the text is only sent when you post it.
7. Who can see your information
- Other TwynUp users can see your profile (name, username, photo, bio, city, sports and statistics), the matches and videos you are in, your comments and the tags on videos.
- Members of a circle can see the circle's details, its members and its matches.
- When you block someone, they are not told. Their content is hidden from you.
- If you share a link to a match, profile, tournament or circle, anyone with the link can open it on twynup.com.
- If you take part in an organised event, the organiser may see the matches and results from that event.
8. Who we share information with
We share personal information only as described here. We do not sell it and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- Service providers that process information for us under contract: Google Firebase (Google LLC) for analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring and remote configuration; our cloud hosting, database and file storage providers; and our SMS provider, which delivers sign-in codes.
- Event organisers and authorised partners, for events you take part in.
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers and auditors, who are bound to keep it confidential.
- Law enforcement, regulators or others where required by law, or where needed to protect the safety, rights or property of our users, the public or TwynUp.
- A buyer or successor, if TwynUp's business is reorganised, merged or sold; this Privacy Policy will continue to apply to your information.
- Anyone else, only with your consent.
TwynUp does not take payments in the app. If it does in future, a payment provider will process them, and we will update this policy first.
9. Where your information is processed
TwynUp is based in India. Some of our service providers, including Google, may process information in other countries. Where they do, we rely on their contractual commitments to protect it, and we follow the requirements of Indian law on transfers.
10. How long we keep your information
- Account, profile and content: while your account is active.
- Deactivated account: hidden immediately. Restored if you sign in again within 90 days; otherwise permanently deleted after 90 days.
- Deleted account: deleted immediately: your profile and sign-in identity (your mobile number can register again as a new account), comments and replies, likes, favourites, follows, your own tags, and your membership of teams, matches and tournaments. A video you uploaded that other players are tagged in stays on the Platform and passes to the first of those players; a video nobody else is tagged in is deleted. A circle you were the only member of is deleted; otherwise another member becomes its admin. Tags you added for other players remain, without your name. Deleted video files are removed from storage within [30] days.
- A video you delete: removed from the Platform immediately, for everyone tagged in it, with its other camera angle, its likes, comments and tags. Its files are removed from storage within [30] days.
- Reports, blocks and moderation records: as long as needed to keep the Platform safe, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Blocks are kept as history after you unblock someone.
- Crash reports: 90 days.
- Analytics: up to 14 months.
- Server logs: [90] days.
We may keep some information for longer where the law requires it, or where it is needed to resolve a dispute, prevent fraud, protect users, keep sporting records such as tournament results, or for security and archival purposes.
11. How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, disclosure or alteration. Information is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers. Sign-in tokens are kept in your phone's secure storage (the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore), sign-ins are tied to the phone they happened on, sign-in codes expire and are rate-limited, and access to personal information within TwynUp is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your phone and sign-in codes to yourself, and tell us at hello@twynup.com if you think someone else has used your account.
12. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- access your information, get a copy of the personal information you gave us, or ask us for a summary of it, by emailing hello@twynup.com;
- correct or update it in the app (Settings, Edit Profile), or by emailing us;
- delete it: deactivate or permanently delete your account in the app (Settings, Delete Account), or email hello@twynup.com and we will do it for you;
- withdraw consent: turn off permissions in your phone's settings, or delete your account;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing;
- delete a video you uploaded, which removes it for everyone, with its other camera angle, likes and comments (the video's menu, Delete);
- take a video off your profile, which removes your tag while the video stays up for the others tagged in it (the video's menu, Remove from my profile);
- block or unblock other users (Settings, Blocked accounts);
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to;
- raise a grievance with us (section 15), and, if you are not satisfied, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Some of these rights may be limited where the law requires or allows us to keep information.
Content you appear in that another user created is handled under the TwynUp Terms & Conditions, applicable law and our moderation policies. Appearing in someone else's video does not by itself entitle you to have it removed, unless the law requires it or TwynUp decides removal is appropriate. You can always take it off your profile and report it.
We acknowledge requests and grievances within 24 hours and respond within 15 days.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Platform, the law or our practices change. We will post the new version here with its effective date, keep earlier versions available on this page, and tell you in the app about significant changes. Continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the updated policy.
14. Third-party links
The Platform may link to other websites or services. Their privacy practices are their own, so please read their policies before giving them personal information.
